Having starred in 18 consecutive appearances for the Chairboys the left-back has rejoined Millwall.

Wanderers boss John Gorman hopes to sign the defender next season after the Championship side refused to agree to extend his loan until the end of this season. Goeman handed Craig the captain’s armband at the weekend as a personal tribute to the youngster’s performances at wing back which won him rave reviews.

Stuart Nethercott knew Craig from his own Millwall days and notified former boss Tony Adams about the 19-year-old’s credentials back in October. The advice was taken and Craig signed on an initial short-term loan, which was extended to its maximum duration, before the club’s had the option of agreeing a deal to the end of the season or cancelling the arrangement.

"It’s a shame that it hasn’t continued to the end of the season. It wouldn’t surprise me if he went on loan again or got a move away (from Millwall). He’s a good enough player and can play at a higher level. He’s been brilliant here and should be playing for Millwall’s first team now," said Nethercott.

Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis also called back defender Joe Dolan from a three-month spell at Crawley Town before allowing the 24-year-old to join Stockport County on a short-term deal this week.

Wycombe midfielder Clint Easton might be asked by Gorman to fill the vacancy at left back following Craig’s departure. The club will also consider taking David Perpetuini on loan since teaming up with the rest of the squad for training last week. The ex-Gillingham player will feature in a friendly against Northampton Town at the Causeway this Tuesday (1pm KO).
