Don't leave now Guppy

Guppy scored his first goal for the club since March 29, 1994 as the Chairboys came back from two goals down to salvage a point at Swansea City. That result keeps Wycombe just five points adrift of the last play-off spot.

Gorman believes that the combination of Guppy and new loan signing Steve Claridge is the vital ingredient needed to lift the club onwards and upwards this season.

The acquisition of Claridge certainly lifted Guppy and the other Wycombe player’s morale at the weekend – but only time will tell if it’s been enough to convince Guppy to ditch his plans for moving to America in February.

Initially, Guppy rejoined the club for one game to help out assistant coach Keith Ryan, while in caretaker charge. The winger has gone on to make eight appearances in total, and has continued to play under Gorman, who is ready to offer the 35-year-old a new contract until the end of the season.

"Going over to America was done and dusted before I came to Wycombe. I realise I cannot stay forever on a game-to-game basis here, and hopefully I can get it sorted out in the next week or so.

"I have really enjoyed being back, and when you see the manager signing someone like Steve Claridge you get a buzz from it. He made a difference and the lads enjoyed linking up with him. I don’t want to bore anyone by going on about whether I’m staying or going but if I don't do America, I will be keen to get the best contract I can," said Guppy.
