Fresh chance to kick start campaign

Wycombe Wanderers and Cheltenham Town will today be hoping their strikers can rediscover some goalscoring form as both clubs approach 12-day breaks.

Following successive 1-0 wins for John Gorman's side in the lead up to Christmas, Wycombe conceded first in each of their Christmas holiday fixtures, and ended up losing all three beginning with the defeat at Southend on Boxing Day.

Ian Stonebridge has scored once all season; Craig Faulconbridge has done everything but register a goal since returning from injury and Nathan Tyson has hit a dry patch again.

"Craig Faulconbridge just needs a goal to go with his fine all round play. Ian Stonebridge is a clever player who looks capable of scoring at any time and Nathan Tyson pops up with a goal when you least expect it," said Gorman.

Wycombe go into the home fixture against Cheltenham, currently one point and one league place below them.

The Robins had to earn draws the hard way on two occasions after going behind in December. John Ward's side drew 1-1 at Northampton Town and again at home to Bristol Rovers last week. That was the Gloucestershire club's only point gained from three holiday fixtures.

The Cheltenham manager's comments after the Robins 2-0 home defeat against Notts County on New Years Day echo the sentiment felt among Chairboys supporters going into the new year.

"Because we have not been prolific scorers it has tended to make the first goal significant," said Cheltenham boss John Ward.
