Wycombe 0-1 Portsmouth- Match Report

Pompey pick up rare victoryA fine goalkeeping display from Trevor Carson helped Portsmouth climb away from the relegation zone with 1-0 win at Wycombe.Pompey striker Ryan Taylor swept home a penalty in the second half as Carson, who bounced back from an error on the weekend, strung together a series of saves to deny Wycombe, who have one win in their last 15 league outings.Wycombe went close early on as Matt McClure was twice thwarted by Carson, before the Bury loanee made a fine reflex save to deny home debutant Reece Styche from six yards out.Shortly after the interval Taylor fired Pompey in front from the penalty spot after Gary Doherty was adjudged to have brought down midfielder Wes Fogden inside the box.The home side responded through efforts from Josh Scowen and Nick Arnold, but winger Andy Barcham nearly doubled Pompey's lead after a flowing move down the left. Then a combination of Carson and Portsmouth defenders somehow kept the ball out in a goalmouth scramble, while Doherty's last-minute effort was ruled out for a push on the keeper
