A depleted Boston United side gained a vital point in their quest for survival at Adams Park.

Wycombe never looked scoring against a Boston side, who had just three players on the bench, and if anything the chance of the game fell to the Pilgrims.

The Chairboys are now hanging on to a play-off place by the skin of their teeth and have not scored in their last three games.

The first half was far from riveting stuff from either side. Wycombe kept possession for the most part of it but did little against a determined Boston, who set their stall out well.

The only chance Wycombe could create after a lengthy period of possession was on 24 minutes when Matt Bloomfield sent Scott McGleish through on goal, but against a tight angle the lively striker could only fire into the side netting.

In contrast, Boston did look dangerous with some direct breaks against the Wycombe defence and had the only real chance of the game with ten minutes to go in the half.

Drewe Broughton fed in Francis Green one-on-one with keeper Jamie Young.

He slid his shot to the far post, but defender Sam Stockley held himself across the goal and deflected the ball off the post before Wycombe cleared to safety.

Boston, feeling confident after their first-half display, came out and attacked Wycombe well immediately after the break and Nathan Joynes fired just wide from 20 yards on 54 minutes.

Wycombe hit back well though and created their best chance minutes later when Stockley headed a Russell Martin cross just wide from ten yards.

Things settled down after that quick start and Wycombe moved into a similar pattern of the first half, having lots of the ball but creating little.

They continued to huff and puff and that was the way a poor game stayed, with no real efforts on goal in the last 25 minutes.
