An incredible game at the Causeway Stadium saw Wycombe relinquish their unbeaten home League Two record, going down 4-5 to a resurgent Macclesfield Town.

The hosts were out of the blocks like an Olympic sprinter. Three goals in the first 13 minutes saw the Silkmen 3-0 up and the League Two leaders in total disarray.

After just three minutes a cross from Danny Whitaker was chested down by the impressive Jon Parkin and former Darlington striker Clyde Wijnhard finished comfortably.

The visitors extended their lead seven minutes later as a corner from, Kevin Sandwith was helped on by Kevin McIntyre to Whitaker who volleyed in the from 12 yards.

The crowd was further stunned into silence just two minutes later. Wijnhard latched onto a slide rule pass from Parkin and placed the ball into the net past the exposed Frank Talia.

Parkin rattled the crossbar on 20 minutes as he continued to torment the home defence, but the home side were handed a lifeline on 31 minutes when referee Mr Penn mysteriously pointed to the penalty spot to the bemusement of the visitors. After a lengthy delay with Macclesfield players questioning the decision, Tommy Mooney lashed in his 13th goal of the campaign.

Mooney scored his fourth goal in two games on the hour to raise the temperature to boiling point, smashing in a thunderbolt from 20 yards, leaving reserve keeper Tim Deasy helpless.

Unbelievably, the hosts drew level with 20 minutes left. A fantastic shot from Russell Martin, his first senior goal, sparked incredible celebrations from the whole Wycombe team.

Five minutes later the home side went into the lead. Danny Senda got to the by-line and the hapless Paul Harsley turned his cross into his own net.

Two minutes later though Parkin hauled his side level, turning in a cross from Alan Navarro. Then four minutes later Parkin got his second and a fifth for his side, heading in from McIntyre's pin-point cross.
