Adams ready for second stab at management

During that relatively brief spell until November 2004 the club dropped into League Two and shortly after fell from the top of the division down to 17th position prior to his resignation. John Gorman came in and steadied the ship but following last weekend’s defeat at home to Bury all talk of an immediate return via the play-offs has but vanished.

Adams spoke publicly for the first time of his decision to leave the managerial post that welcomed him after loyal service as a player to Arsenal. He told an audience at Beaconsfield Sycob Football Club last Monday that during the past six months he had been researching coaching methods across Europe in preparation for his ultimate career destiny, a return to football management.

"If I stayed as Wycombe manager I may not be doing what I'm doing now. I needed to learn. I needed to go and do a bit more research and I couldn't do that before.

"I don't regret anything because my time at the club was a great learning curve."

"I think I took the Wycombe job too early - I think managers peak in their fifties so I've got a lot of learning to do," he said.
