Bull on fire for Wanderers

Wycombe goalkeeper Nikki Bull produced an inspired display to deny local rivals Oxford their first win since their return to the Football League as the sides played out a 0-0 draw. Bull made three outstanding second-half saves to frustrate James Constable (twice) and Matt Green as the Us - who hit the woodwork twice - were left cursing their luck. Wycombe dominated the first half and Matt Phillips wasted a golden opportunity to put them ahead when he slotted Jon-Paul Pittman's pin-point cross wide from eight yards. Oxford's main threat came from set-pieces in the first period as Simon Heslop curled a 30-yard free-kick inches wide before crossing for Constable to glance a header just past the post. Wycombe's Andy Sandell had a curling 25-yard free-kick pushed wide by Us keeper Ryan Clarke on the stroke of half-time. Oxford improved dramatically after the break and Matt Green raced clear but fired against the crossbar, while Wanderers midfielder Kevin Betsy chipped the ball over the bar one-on-one at the other end. Bull then produced three brilliant saves to preserve a point for Wycombe - denying Constable from point-blank range and then tipping his fierce 25-yard shot onto the crossbar, before saving from Green one-on-one.
