Busy schedule too much for veterans

Notts County had their midweek game at Boston postponed so they came into the game the fresher of the two sides. Magpies player boss Ian Richardson, who attended Wycombe’s 4-1 demolition of Mansfield, was happy with the performance of his own side, especially defender Julian Baudet, who kept Claridge quiet, for most the afternoon.

County hadn’t won in 11 visits to the Causeway before the weekend, but they were allowed to take the lead twice and eventually hold onto a 2-1 advantage.

"We have never had much luck here, over the years, but we got what we deserved this time," said Richardson.

Ian Stonebridge scored his second goal in two games, and Nathan Tyson, returning from an achilles injury, was a second half replacement for Steve Guppy, having missed the previous two games.
