Carry on Rhino

The 34-year-old, who has played for 15 seasons at the club, remains a "big part of the engine" in the team according to Gorman, and the manager will give Ryan the necessary time to consider his future.

"He is our unsung hero and I want him to stay on. People questioned whether he could still get up and down the pitch but he answers that every week by epitomising everything we want.

"I don't think people appreciate just how good he is. Sometimes the fans don't see what he does and sometimes at home they expect their players to be pretty," said Gorman.

Ryan was a thorn in the side of Chester’s centre half and skipper Paul Bolland at the weekend, constantly working to create space for striker Nathan Tyson, who scored his fourth and fifth goal in two games as Wycombe romped to a 4-2 victory.
