Chester bounce back from drubbing

There had been speculation that former Kidderminster boss Jan Molby might have been in charge of Chester for their visit to the Causeway this weekend, but after the club’s 2-2 draw against Southend, City boss Ian Rush said he wants to honour his two-and-a-half year contract at the club.

It’s understood Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan offered Rush a financial settlement to cancel his contract after their 5-0 defeat at local rivals Shrewsbury and that Rush had allegedly turned down the package because it wasn’t substantial enough to make him quit his post.

"It appears someone is trying to make me out to be holding the club up to ransom and it’s not the case. As a football manager you have disagreements with your chairmen, but it’s been resolved," said Rush.
