"For once we went a goal ahead which meant they had to come out and play against us," said Claridge.

Nathan Tyson scored the home side’s second goal thanks to an assist from Gus Uhlenbeek two minutes before the interval. At 2-0 Claridge had a volleyed effort disallowed for offside in the second half.

"It would have done me the world of good to get a second and I’m disappointed and feel a bit hard done by but obviously I’m relieved to get my first goal," added Claridge.

Roger Johnson was shown a red card by referee Steve Tanner in the 75th minute and despite conceding a late goal Wycombe held on for their second victory of the week.

"We’ve had a decent run since I’ve been here and I think we’re just starting to hit a bit of form now at the right time," said Claridge.
