Easton hands back award

The versatile 25-year-old who is in the middle of a two year contract at the club since signing from Norwich City last summer, received the award from Mark Hamilton having been voted the ‘Most Improved Wycombe Player’ during the 2004/5 season. At the time Easton accepted the engraved smaller replica version of the shield that’s supposed to be kept by the winner. The main shield to be kept in the trophy room at the club was bought with some of the money left to the WWISC by the late Mr Pierce.

Easton, who is himself sponsored by the Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Trust, is understood to have since told the WWISC that receiving the award was a snub to somebody with his experience, who has played at a higher level.

WWISC subsequently wrote to the player to explain no snub was intended and that the WWISC supporters genuinely thought he was the most improved player of the season.

Meanwhile, the WWST will meet with Wycombe Wanderers Founders Trust on Friday 3rd June 2005, to discuss how to improve the way they work together in the future.
