Contract with Wasps RFC

It was made clear at the meeting that London Wasps are benefiting hugely from their relationship with Wycombe Wanderers Football Club, which was not always clear from press reports on the subject. Some members voiced concern at the impression gained by some people that Wycombe Wanderers now play at London Wasps' ground.

Attendees at the meeting also criticised the weekly press briefings from London Wasps regarding the ongoing ‘groundshare’ negotiations whilst Wanderers staff remained tight-lipped due to confidentiality clauses. The attendees requested that the Board of the PLC sanction Wasps over their breach of confidentiality.

Financial information

Concern was expressed that it is impossible for supporters to obtain sufficiently detailed financial information to judge the value of the new ‘groundshare’ deal to Wycombe Wanderers. It is unclear whether or not such information will be made available under the new PLC structure but it was also noted that financial details were not forthcoming under the previous Members constitution.

The meeting was also reminded that the Supporters Trust has made a part payment of £50,000 for the 100,000 shares necessary to maintain a Board Director and that the second instalment of £50,000 is payable in February 2006. The Supporters Trust has raised approximately £10,000 towards the outstanding sum.

It was suggested that the Supporters Trust should also ask the Board for an extension to the period for payment or for a reduced sum to be paid for the shareholding given the Board's stated desire to work with the fanbase on a much closer basis. The Supporters Trust had a request for a reduced shareholding or extended period for payment in February 2005 rejected by the PLC Board.

Reminder: Trust members can meet the candidates who are vying for the place on the PLC board obtained through the purchase of the shares.
