Cheltenham Town held Wycombe Wanderers to a 1-1 draw in a keenly contested encounter that neither side really deserved to win. Other than Jamie Victory putting the home side in front before veteran midfielder Keith Ryan marking a return to form equalising for Wycombe, goalscoring chances were few and far between. The move that materialised in Cheltenham’s opener began when defender John Brough launched a long ball forward. Steve Guinan headed it across goal and left-back Victory, who was still forward having moved up for a free-kick moments earlier, reached the ball fractionally ahead of Wycombe goalkeeper Frank Talia to head Cheltenham in front after 37 minutes. Wycombe were brighter after the break and created a succession of chances before the equaliser arrived in the 74th minute. Cheltenham's Melligan won the ball by the corner flag and then promptly gave it away again to Clint Easton. The Chairboys midfielder swept the ball across the edge of the box to Ryan, who hooked it beyond Higgs to earn a point for Tony Adams' side.
