Penalty jinx over at Blues expense

Having now gone eight games without a win, the circumstances of Wycombe’s latest defeat revealed Saturday’s opponents had needed to tolerate a hapless run of their own. Darlington’s penalty on Saturday was the club’s first to be awarded in their favour for over a year.

The first half spot kick that would eventually decide the game’s outcome, was given after Clyde Wijnhard was adjudged to have been unfairly challenged by Wycombe centre-back Steve Williamson.

The visit of Wycombe was the home side’s 32nd game at the Williamson Motors Stadium, since vacating Feethams at the end of the 2002/03 season – and their first since moving to their new ground.
