Poor home record dents promotion charge

The Chairboys were unable to keep the momentum after the impressive 4-1 win at Mansfield in midweek, and ended the month as they began it – on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline at home.

"The boys have been getting excited about all the talk of play-off prospects but I've wanted to play it down.

"We did enough preparation wise before this game but there's this problem where the players are trying too hard to play well at home and they somehow became tentative.

"We got a great performance and win at Mansfield in midweek and needed to follow it up but we keep going a goal down.

"We had some good chances and had we gone ahead early on we might have been on course for another fine win," said Wycombe boss John Gorman.
