Ryan soldiers on

Guppy’s former Leicester City teammate Steve Claridge started on the Blues bench at the player’s own request, although John Gorman did bring the 38-year-old striker on for the last 15 minutes as Wycombe held on for three valuable points. All the experience of assistant player coach Keith Ryan was necessary to keep the troops fired up – and Gorman afterwards hailed Ryan for his "brilliant" efforts.

"We all know how well Joe Burnell played and together with Matt Bloomfield it gave us a real basis. We won every second ball, passed it for fun and got in behind them," said Gorman.
