The player was out of contract at Adams Park but because he's under 24 Posh will have to pay a fee. Failure to agree an amount will mean arbitration to settle the price.

Barry Fry confirmed that upto seven transfer listed players at London Rd were offered to Wycombe hoping to trade them as part of the deal.

"I know Peter is a big fan of Adam Newton and Mark Tyler from when he worked here, but he has told me he won't be taking any of our players. "Fry said"

"I did suggest that any deal could be done as part of Russell's transfer, but we now have to get back to negotiating a fee for him. If we end up at a tribunal then so be it.

"I will be with the Wycombe people at a chairman's conference next weekend so hopefully we can get something sorted out then."
