Knott to start for Chairboys

Billy Knott looks set to start for Wycombe against Preston.

The on-loan Sunderland midfielder played for 87 minutes of their midweek 2-2 draw with Portsmouth on Wednesday night despite illness but he looks set to get the nod for their crucial FA Cup second-round tie.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth admitted his players, who have faced midweek matches in each of the last four weeks, looked "shattered" after that clash with Pompey and he could ring the changes.

Anthony Stewart, whose last-gasp leveller earned them a point, Max Kretzschmar and Jo Kuffour will all hope to feature as the Chairboys look to record their first victory since the previous round of the competition.

Preston are without three suspended players.

Boss Simon Grayson has had the luxury of a virtually full complement of players throughout the campaign but must now consider his options with forwards Joe Garner and Paul Gallagher and defender Bailey Wright all suspended.

However, on-loan midfielder Neil Kilkenny returns after being refused permission to feature against parent club Bristol City last time out while captain John Welsh, missing against the Robins due to family reasons, is also back in the fold.

Grayson stated his squad is also carrying some knocks to unnamed players while midfielder John Mousinho has been recalled from his loan spell with Gillingham due to a hamstring tear.
