An exciting new-look Wycombe Wanderers side put Macclesfield Town to the sword with a polished away win.

Livewire striker Jermaine Easter looked at his sharpest to score his fifth goal in eight days with a magical man of the match display.

Easter took the game by the scruff of the net when he sprinted past static stand-in skipper Danny Swailes before muscling off his second challenge and thumping a 15-yard volley to the top corner.

Easter might have had two more in the next ten minutes but twice he sent shots on the turn narrowly over the bar.

Strike partner Tommy Mooney then showed all his experience as he peeled off youngster Andrew Teague to connect with a pinpoint Anthony Grant cross.

Jonathan Brain made a brave first save, but could only parry the ball into the path of Mooney who stroked home at the second attempt.

Wycombe were again by far the better side after the break and in the 56th minute Easter saw a curling drive from the left of the area brilliantly tipped wide by Brain.

Five minutes later Easter produced an audacious dragback to dummy the defence, before chipping in a swinging cross which was powerfully met by Mooney, only for Brain to make a stunning close-range save.

Macclesfield finally came to life at the death, Jimmy McNulty seeing a goalbound header cleared off the line by Will Antwi, the imposing centre-back moments later sticking out a long leg to clear a Martin Bullock drive off the line.
