Chairboys taste rare defeat

Mike Jones and Ryan Lowe scored either side of the break as Bury ended Wycombe's unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 win.

Jones bagged his first of the campaign midway through the first period after clever play from Lowe, and the prolific hitman got in on the act himself with his fifth of the season to ensure Wanderers tasted defeat for the first time in 14 matches.

The Chairboys had the better of the opening stages and should have gone ahead when Ben Strevens met Danny Foster's cross but the former Barnet frontman could only to head straight at Cameron Belford.

And that miss proved costly after 24 minutes when Jones played a brilliant one-two with Lowe and fired beyond Nikki Bull.

Wycombe had a penalty appeal waved away when Joe Skarz appeared to handle and then Dave Winfield saw his header well saved by Belford.

But five minutes later Bishop cut in from the left to feed Lowe eight yards out, and even with three defenders confronting him the striker still found room to poke the ball home and seal the win.
