Wycombe 1-2 Accrington Stanley- Match Report

Last updated : 19 February 2011 By DSG

Accrington defender Phil Edwards notched a last-gasp winner to put a dent in Wycombe's promotion hopes and give struggling Stanley their first win in five games in a 2-1 victory.

Edwards popped up eight minutes from time to settle the clash after Wycombe's Scott Rendell cancelled out Joe Jacobsen`s opener.

Wycombe enjoyed the best of the opening exchanges and Rendell had the ball in the back of the net after nine minutes - only to see it ruled out for a foul.

But after Scott Donnelly and Rendell both wasted further chances it was Stanley who grabbed a 43rd -minute lead when Jacobson poked in Charlie Barnett's corner.

Rendell made amends for his first-half wastefulness by notching Wycombe's equaliser on 52 minutes, firing home after Edwards failed to clear a cross from the right.

But with Wycombe pushing for a winner the visitors helped themselves to the three points when Edwards popped up with his eighth of the season on 82 minutes, heading home Barnett's left-wing free kick.
