Wycombe 2 Plymouth 1

Wycombe bounced back from a string of disappointing performances with a far better show against a multi-national Plymouth outfit.

Wycombe deservedly went in at half time 1-0 to the good thanks to a rather controversial decision in the 27th minute by referee Paul Danson.

Wycombe's Welsh winger Stuart Roberts was adjudged to have been tripped by Argyle's Hasney Aljofree. Darren Currie calmly sent French keeper Romain Larrieu the wrong way from the spot.

Plymouth came out really fighting at the start of the second half, desperate to claw back the 1-0 deficit.

The game ebbed and flowed with both sides making and squandering chances before argyle equalised. There seemed to be no danger as the ball fell to David Friio 30 yards from goal.

However, he proceeded to smash the ball into the net. This once again stung Wycombe into action and the home side retook the lead after 67 minutes.

A Wycombe corner came back to Currie who had taken the original set-piece. He took the ball into the penalty area and smashed the ball into the net for his second and what proved to be the winner.

Martin Taylor in the Wycombe goal made a great save to his right to deny Plymouth a second equaliser, and Chairboys sub Richard Harris wasted a good chance to finally put the game beyond Argyle's reach in the five minutes of added on time played by Mr Danson at the end of the second half.

Manager Lawrie Sanchez was relieved to win this game after four defeats in a row and was pleased at the way the team performed in front of the 6,708 crowd
