Former England assistant John Gorman stopped the rot as far a Wycombe were concerned leading his new team to a goalless draw against Plymouth at Adams Park.

In a game of few chances Plymouth will be the more pleased of the teams with a share of the spoils.

In general the home side dominated the play, with the first chance of the game arriving after 12 minutes with Wycombe club captain Keith Ryan having a shot deflected wide.

The Pilgrims weathered the early storm and as the game wore on came more and more into it Canadian international Jason Bent warmed the hands of home goalkeeper Frank Talia with a thunderous shot on 34 minutes.

Having received a lashing from boss Paul Sturrock the visitors came out strongly in the second half and created the best chance of the game on 49 minutes when Marino Keith set David Norris free but, having held off home defender Guy Branston, Norris shot wide of Talia's far post.

Most of the play was centred around the Argyle goa, but one of Wycombe's problems was plainly obvious in that their was no incisiveness in their play.

They dominated possession, but were unable to turn that possession into goalscoring opportunities.

Sub Andy Bell livened things up in the last ten minutes but, despite being encouraged by the vocal home support, the Chairboys could not find the elusive goal they were looking for as the game petered out into a 0-0 draw.
