Wycombe missed a host of chances as they stumbled to a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Notts County - a result which suits neither side in their battle against relegation.

The home side had started quite brightly with winger Darren Currie hitting the post after four minutes with a free-kick.

This woke up the visitors and Paul Heffernan hit the post from 12 yards just a few seconds before he did put his side in front with 17 minutes gone.

This time the County striker finished expertly from an acute angle past an exposed Steve Williams.

There were further chances for the home side to equalise before half-time but due to a general lack of quality, none of these were accepted.

After the break, Wycombe continued to press and create chances, however, former Reading hit-man Nathan Tyson managed to steer the ball wide when it seemed easier to score just past the hour.

Home substitute Mark Philo then missed a golden opportunity just two minutes after coming on allowing ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Pegguy Arphexad to save with the goal gaping.

Wycombe finally drew level after 78 minutes following a dreadful mistake from Arphexad. He came and caught a cross, then inexplicably dropped the ball and Tyson poked the ball over the line.

With just two minutes remaining, referee Lee Probert did the home side a real favour as he denied County a stonewall penalty after a foul by goalkeeper Williams on substitute Steve Scoffham.
