Danny Senda's late effort secured Wycombe a point in the 1-1 draw against a plucky Shrewsbury Town at Adams Park this afternoon. A headed goal from Darren Moss in the first half had put the Shrews in the driving seat before Senda sealed Tony Adams' men a point in a result which extends the home sides' run without a win at the Causeway to three league games. Shrewsbury reaped their reward for some neat, incisive attacking play when they took the lead after 36 minutes. A corner from the left by John McGrath was headed home at the far post by Moss. Wycombe responded and created some good opportunities but poor finishing, particularly from Ian Stonebridge, meant the visitors led at half-time. The Shrews soaked up some early second-half pressure from the Chairboys. On loan Arsenal striker Adam Birchall fired just over from 20 yards and then actually found the back of the Shrewsbury net before a linesman's flag stopped the home celebration in their tracks. Wycombe though did conjure an equaliser out of nothing on 74 minutes. Nathan Tyson made tracks down the left and Senda swept his cross home from 12 yards for his third goal of the season. |
