ItIt was a tale of goalkeeping errors at Adams Park as the points were shared in a lively season opener.

Wycombe were out of their blocks quickest, though, with a dream start. A mazy run down the left by debutant Chris Palmer saw him easily beat two players before his low cross found the evergreen Tommy Mooney, whose tame 10-yard shot somehow found a way under keeper Michael Ingham.

Wycombe almost doubled their lead minutes later when a Mooney free-kick from just out side the box fell to Will Antwi, whose scissor-kick went just wide.

Wrexham got back into the game in the 32nd minute with an early contender for goal of the season when Wycombe keeper Ricardo Batista chased down his own half clearance only for Steve Evans to receive a pass and precisely curl the ball 40 yards into the empty net.

It was a lively affair coming up to half-time with both teams fighting well to take the lead, but neither side could fashion a decent chance.

Things were slightly tighter in the second half, Wycombe creating the first chance after 53 minutes. After an incisive break from a Dragons' corner, Kevin Betsy ran well down the right and found Jermaine Easter on the penalty spot, but his first-time shot sailed well over.

Wrexham then had a contender for miss of the season in the 67th minute when Chris Llewellyn somehow headed against the post from two yards after a decent cross from Neil Roberts.

The home side looked the stronger in the closing stages. The ever-threatening Betsy should have done better with just 15 minutes to go after a good run across the Wrexham defence, but his weak 20-yard shot was easily saved.

Tommy Mooney then had a glorious chance to win it for the home side with just six minutes remaining, but he blasted over from 10 yards.

Wrexham then almost stole the points with just a minute left. A teasing cross by the winger Matt Done was flapped away by Batista only as far as Neil Roberts, whose shot was cleared off the line.
