Wycombe Wanderers began life in League Two with a 2-1 home win over Cambridge United.

Nathan Tyson was the Chairboys hero with both goals for Tony Adams' side, while his strike partner Ian Stonebridge impressed on his debut.

The first half saw few chances for either side, with the visiting U's setting their stall out to frustrate the home side.

However, ten minutes after the break Wanderers made the breakthrough as Joe Burnell raced clear from midfield and fed Tyson, who finished coolly past John Ruddy.

Twenty minutes from time the U's drew level as Jermaine Easter made a rare chance count by beating Frank Talia in the home goal.

However, after the U's had seen Igor Latte-Yedo sent off for pulling back Tyson, the Wycombe striker netted the winning goal.

Tyson charged clear of the visiting defence and lobbed the ball over the advancing Ruddy, only to be left on the ground as the two players collided.

The matchwinner's day ended on a sour note as he was substituted and needed a hospital visit to check up on damage to his ribs.
