Wycombe boss Tony Adams is still looking for a way to get his side back on track after seeing them lose 3-2 at to Colchester after extra time. The visitors led twice and although they were pegged back, the third goal in injury time of extra time proved too much.

Colchester took the lead in the eighth minute, Scott McGleish taking full advantage of a dreadful mistake by home skipper Michael Simpson in his penalty area, his precise finish giving young Wycombe goalkeeper Steve Williams no chance.

From the game's first corner after 22 minutes the Chairboys equalised. Darren Currie drove in the flag-kick and defender Andy Thomson thundered in this third goal of the season. However, the defensive frailties which have plagued Wycombe all season were evident again as they fell behind for the second time on 39 minutes, when McGleish was left completely unmarked to head Gavin Johnson's corner.

The Chairboys drew level for the second time from another set piece. This time a free-kick from Currie was met my Roger Johnson and his bullet header from six yards gave Simon Brown, in the Colchester goal, no chance on 68 minutes.

Normal time finished with the scores level at 2-2.

The first chance of extra time fell to the home side. Once again it was a Currie corner that caused problems for the visiting defence, as Johnson forced a good save from Brown on 94 minutes. Jermaine Brown, on as a substitute for the stricken Bobby Bowry who had been taken to hospital with his neck in a brace, won the game in injury time, when he slotted past Williams from six yards to the delight of the Colchester bench.
